Day 9.3 Clinic School
Back in Lo-Mathang, near the end of the day, we visited a school of Amchi herbal medicine. First we visited with the students. I showed the kids a simple hand game that was very popular. The teacher/monk then took us to the director who showed us tankas and explained some of the philosophy of their system. Fascinating! Today, more than other days, I felt like I stepped through a window in time. These people live in many ways that are similar to the Pueblo people in the deserts of old in America. The most advanced students of the herbal medicine school makes use of the spiritual aspects of Tibetan Buddhism where the medicine itself can't reach.
